  • Counting tokens for various Large Language Models (LLMs)
  • Estimating API costs based on current provider pricing
  • Comparing pricing across different AI model providers
  • Visualizing how text is split into tokens
  • Processing uploaded documents (PDF, TXT, MD, JSON, CSV, XML)

All processing is performed locally in your browser. No data is transmitted to our servers.

3. Free Use

Token Counter AI is provided free of charge. There are no usage limits, no subscription tiers, and no premium features behind paywalls. We reserve the right to modify this in the future with reasonable notice.

4. Accuracy Disclaimer

While we strive for accuracy, please note:

  • Token counts for OpenAI models (GPT-5.6, GPT-5.4, GPT-4o, etc.) use the official BPE tokenizer and are exact
  • Token counts for other models (Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, LLaMA) are estimates because these providers do not publish their tokenizers
  • Pricing data is updated regularly but may not reflect real-time changes made by providers
  • Cost estimates are approximations and should not be used as billing calculations

Always verify critical cost estimates directly with your AI provider.

5. Intellectual Property

The Token Counter AI website, including its design, code, logos, and content, is the intellectual property of Token Counter AI. You may not:

  • Copy, modify, or distribute our source code without permission
  • Use our branding or trademarks without written consent
  • Scrape or harvest content from our website for commercial purposes

Your input text and uploaded documents remain entirely yours. We make no claim to any content you process through our tool.

6. User Responsibilities

When using Token Counter AI, you agree to:

  • Use the service only for lawful purposes
  • Not attempt to disrupt or interfere with the website's functionality
  • Not attempt to access any systems or data beyond what is publicly available
  • Not use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the service excessively
